It is a constant bug bear that the word hero is bandied about for those that are usually thoroughly undeserving, from the highly paid sportsperson just doing their job to the fodder that pursue paparazzi for their 5 minutes of fame. The power of the word hero is being lost through it’s now common association with McDonalds TV and the tabloids, but now maybe even a casino website is as guilty as the rest.

The latest take on the word hero is a rather shifty online casino site called Heroes Casino which has over a period of 7 months failed to pay a blackjack player their winnings, reportedly to the tune of $34,000. The online casino player was extremely patient and some might say a bit slow in making a suitable stink about the failure of the Heroes Casino site to pay up.

Happily for the ‘lucky’ online casino player he was discussing his problems with Hero Casino and his payout on the Casino meister blog page. For anyone who doesn’t know Casino meister’s modus operandi is to be a ‘Casino watchdog and player advocate’. The Casino meister team makes player problems their business to get resolved to the satisfaction of hopefully both parties, but usually if a complaint is made about a site it is likely not to be entirely to the casinos satisfaction. This has certainly been the case with the Heroes Casino issue, after much badgering by the other bloggers at Casino meister the player known as ‘Westland Bowl’ pushed for a resolution, the Heroes Casino wriggled continually out of paying up. Casino meister then took it upon themselves to contact the software provider on April 15th, Galewinds Software Corp thankfully took immediate action and disabled the Heroes Casino software on 17th April.

There is thankfully a happy ending to this whole sorry affair, the software provider has paid out Westland Bowl’s big win, as not only a matter of pride in their product but also a damage limitation exercise so that their company image is not tarnished by the appalling behaviour of Heroes Casino. Heroes Casino has made allegations that the software provider had problems with their Random Generator and that the player won in error and was not paid out because of this. This however is denied not only by the software provider but also by experts who have tested the software and concluded that it is error free.

We will leave the final comment to the real hero of this sorry tale, Mr Chris Colby of Galewind Software Corp “I'd like to say that all of us at Galewind Software Corp. are very proud of our product, and we stand behind it 100%. Our people and our software enjoy the respect of such industry participants as Michael Shackleford (the Wizard of Odds), Eliot Jacobson (of Certified Fair Gambling), and Stacy Friedman (of Olympian Gaming). I hope that our actions regarding this issue will remove any concerns about our company which this situation may have created.”
